Welcome to Global Brooklyn!

Global Brooklyn Visual digital media have supported the global diffusion of Global Brooklyn, its looks, and its feel, from fonts to the plating styles. As restaurants, cafés, and stores use pictures of their interior design, objects, clients, and staff to entice patrons, the number of available images on social media is staggering and constantly growing. Some places have closed, some have changed ownership, some have been redone, but all of them have existed at some point in time as Global Brookyn spaces, all of them have contributed to this global phenomenon.
Images have also been central in the development of our research for the Global Brooklyn project: they have provided us with virtual access to far-flung locations and facilitated the work of the contributors of our edited volume in places as diverse as Rio de Janeiro, Copenhagen, and Cape Town. When possible, contributors have gathered visual material using the hashtag #globalbrooklyn. Current and previous students used the hashtag on assignments on Instagram. Some of their pictures are in this photo gallery. If you have pictures you want to share, send them to us at @parasecoli.website@gmail.com (we will make sure to give you credit) or post them on your social media using the hashtag #globalbrooklyn.
