Curatorial Work

The Victoria and Albert Museum invited me to contribute as an external advisor to the exhibition Food: Bigger than the Plate, which will be open to the public between May and November 2019.

This collaboration has provided me with a unique opportunity to reflect on the specific challenges and opportunities of curatorial work as a means to convey complex – and at times confusing – content and ideas to the general public. This effort included the conceptualization of the theme and its organization in different topics, the reflection on what kind of communication strategies to adopt, the choice of objects, artists, and designer to showcase, and the organization of the exhibition is a specific space.

Together with Mateusz Halawa we also contributed the essay Rethinking the Global Table: Food Design as Future Making to the companion volume to the exhibition. In the essay, we reflect on the role of design in creating a different future for the food system, one in which stakeholders have a say in decisions, the circular economy is a priority, and justice is a primary goal.
